Common App builds the infrastructure that democratizes college access. Since 1975, the organization has streamlined the undergraduate application process, enabling students to apply to over 1,000 colleges and universities worldwide through a single platform. Each year, more than 1 million students - one-third of whom are first-generation applicants - use Common App to pursue higher education opportunities across all 50 U.S. states and 18 countries.
The not-for-profit membership organization operates on a mission of access, equity, and integrity in college admissions. By reducing the complexity and cost of applying to multiple institutions, Common App removes systemic barriers that disproportionately affect underserved students. The platform connects applicants, counselors, and recommenders to a diverse network of public and private institutions, including over 250 public universities, 12 historically black colleges and universities, and more than 400 fee-free institutions.
