We're Specialisterne, a social organization founded in Denmark in 2004 by Thorkil Sonne. When Thorkil's youngest son Lars was diagnosed with autism, he saw firsthand how much autistic people struggle to make use of their talents in traditional workplaces. That realization sparked a movement - what we now call the Autism Advantage. We work with businesses around the world to tap into the talents of autistic and neurodivergent job seekers, helping organizations build inclusive hiring and management practices that benefit everyone.
Today, we operate in over 25 countries and have grown into an internationally recognized leader in neurodiversity employment. Our mission is straightforward: enable meaningful jobs for autistic and neurodivergent people everywhere. Through our Academy programs, workplace support services, and corporate partnerships, we connect qualified neurodivergent candidates with employers who understand that different thinking is a competitive advantage, not a liability. The Specialisterne Foundation backs our work with the ambitious goal of generating one million meaningful jobs for autistic and neurodivergent people worldwide.
